For the past 10 years we've been sending passionate and talented US youth, mostly high school and college students, to UN summits on climate change, sustainable development, biodiversity, and women's rights. In that time we've organized and built relationships with young people from all over the world who share our passion for saving our planet and the folks who live on it. Many of these young people come from small island states and other parts of the developing world that are far more vulnerable to the effects of climate change than anything we could imagine here in the US. These are our friends and they're depending on us to get our government to stop obstructing climate progress and become a global leader.
The next (and maybe last) opportunity for a meaningful and binding climate treaty is most likely going to be in 2015, right in the middle of the next Presidential term and yet we haven't heard either candidate lay out a serious plan for addressing the climate crisis. This isn't ok and we're not going to stand by and allow them to remain silent. We're thrilled to support Power Vote's campaign to break the silence on climate change and we hope you will too. Young people all over the world are counting on us.
