Victory! UN Approves 2012 Rio Earth Summit

On the recommendation of its Second Committee, which concerns economic and financial issues, the UN General Assembly adopted, without a vote, a resolution by which it decided, among other things, “to organize, in 2012, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development at the highest possible level, including Heads of State and Government or other representatives, and in this regard accepts with gratitude the generous offer of the Government of Brazil to host the Conference”. 

SustainUS was the only youth organization joining major environment and development groups in writing to the U.S. government to actively support the summit.
